There's no doubt in my mind, that just one good Trigger Point Therapist/Bodyworker can save the medical system (unnecessary prescriptions, procedures, tests, or surgeries), employers (loss of productivity) and insurance companies, hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.
But most importantly, a good Trigger Point Therapist can help those who are suffering with chronic pain by effectively reducing the pain and shortening recovery time!
Chronic pain not only affects the sufferer, it also affects their family, coworkers, and friends.

Simply speaking - Trigger Point bodywork is aimed at removing these knots that are often found in taut bands of muscle and fascia.
These knots may be responsible for a large variety of physical problems. The treatment can be a combination of general massage (superficial and deep strokes) and localized pressure techniques to areas affected with knots. These pressure techniques are the most common method used to remove knots.
Once they are removed, it allows the affected muscle to return to a state of normalcy, (i.e. heal) which almost always results in greatly improved muscle performance, as well as reduction or total elimination of the referred pain.
Trigger points may develop as a result of sedentary lifestyle, injury/trauma, repetitive strain, or diet deficiencies. As well, over-exercising, skeletal abnormalities and day-to-day emotional stress will provide an environment, suitable for trigger points to form!
Trigger points can be tiny like a poppy seed or as big as a pea... sometimes even larger.
They do not necessarily hurt, unless of course you press on them. They do however, cause problems that may be difficult to figure out.
"Latent" trigger points will cause fatigue and weakness to the involved muscle(s); however, they do not cause pain or other symptoms.
"Active" trigger points will always produce symptoms. Issues such as dizziness...
